Futurism wall Art, canvas prints & posters
Futurism fine art prints and canvas prints
Futurism, founded by the Italian poet Filippo Tommaso Marinetti in 1909, advocated a radical rejection of traditional values and a celebration of speed, technology and industrialisation. Embodying a fascination with modernity and the future, Futurist artists sought to capture the frenetic pace of modern life through the use of dynamic forms, diagonal lines and bright colours. They were driven by a desire to represent the energy and excitement of big cities, reflecting the advent of a new world in perpetual evolution.
famous Futurism painting artworks
In painting, Futurist artists used a variety of techniques to express their vision of the future. Umberto Boccioni's "Dynamism of a Car" is a perfect illustration of this aesthetic, with decomposed forms and tangled lines representing the rapid movement of an automobile. Similarly, Boccioni's famous "Unique Forms of Continuity in Space" presents a moving sculpture that seems to defy gravity, symbolising the emancipation of the individual from the weight of the past. These works reflect the Futurists' interest in movement, technology and emotion, demonstrating their ability to capture the ephemeral and express the spirit of the times.
